BRX BX-DM1E-36AR3 read data from SLC 5/03 over DH485 or DF1
I am tasked with displaying data from an SLC 5/03 PLC on our plant network. We have standardized on the Do-more PLC's. I am using the BRX and wiring the inputs from the AB PLC inputs. I am wondering if I can read data from the AB PLC. There are two comm ports on the SLC 5/03, DH485 and RS232 DF1. How would I go about setting up the comms to read data?
The 5/03 with new enough firmware can be a Modbus RTU master (but not a slave). So you'd have to set it up that way and put MSG instructions in the 5/03 to write data serially to the BRX. If there's a Red Lion HMI near enough, it can easily connect the two and exchange data, using either port of the 5/03.
If A/D brings out a CPU (Click or BRX) that supports DF1, and DF1 radio modem protocol, that would be a great benefit in my world of water and wastewater telemetry controls.
