KristjanH (Customer) asked a question.
I have two systems where BX-06RTDs are misbehaving. These are relatively new modules. All inputs are used with Pt1000 sensors.
We started the systems a couple of weeks ago and all signals were fine. Then all of a sudden, all inputs on the BX-06RTDs went to -1480 with I/O error channels out of range. I corrected the issue by unplugging the lower 10-pin terminal (power supply to module) and plugging in again, now all was good. A few minutes later the situation came back, all channels out of range. Issue corrected again and a couple of hours later still good (fingers crossed).
I understand that the BX-06RTD is designed with the signal and logic sides separately powered, so I was rebooting signal side. It sounds like the PLC and logic side are working fine.
What can cause all inputs on a BX-06RTD to suddenly go from correct readings to -1480?
Has anyone else seen a BX-06RTD suddenly return values -1480 on all channels?
Is it your wiring? I have zero experience with RTDs and BRX, but with Productivity 1000 modules, the minus side of each RTD must be jumpered to the COM terminal.
Í assume wiring is ok. Each RTD is wired to COM and all sensors give correct readings until they suddenly fail. Power-cycling the module (BX-06RTD is externally powered) fixes the issue.
Fortunately, the modules have been stable for a few days now but I want to better understand why this happens.
What version of Do More Designer are you using? I have a hunch the folks at Host will ask. You may need to ensure the firmware is the latest version.
Do More Designer v2.11
PLC OS v2.10.3
I have FW 2.11.2 available, haven't updated yet.
This problem with BX-06RTD keeps coming back and the fault is happening on different modules on different PLCs (different cabinets). The attached screenshot shows Data View with signals from two BX-06RTDs. The first one if failing and the second one is OK.
The fault gets reset when we power cycle the module (remove/install the power supply terminal on the repective module).
Anyone familiar with this situation? Any tips for a permanent solution?
I notice you are using DMIO in your setup. Have you checked if that module has the latest FW in NetEdit?
I will check DMIO FW, I don't think it is the latest FW. However, this site is cuurently under construction with all new BRXs, so at least FW is not old.
A credible source told me that the BX-06RTD is designed with the signal and logic sides separately powered. When I correct the issue, I am rebooting the signal side and it therefore sounds like the PLC/DMIO and logic side are working fine.
I noticed other BX-06RTD module - does the issue move around, or is it always the same slot?
Is the issue you see in the other panel also a BX-06RTD in a DMIO?
Do you have any BX-06RTD as a local module that is seeing this issue?
The fact that the warnings showing up in the I/O System View are consistent with the values you are reading in your WX is a warm fuzzy that the error detection mechanism is behaving properly from the BX-06RTD module through the Ethernet I/O driver to the PLC to the Designer I/O System View (note the discrete X bits reported by the module - these are the warning/error status bits used by I/O System View).
The issue is not always the same slot. Can be either one or both.
The issue is recurring in three different panels. The three panels are identical, each with:
I don't have any BX-06RTD on a local DM1E.
