This is more a suggestion to throw out than a question based on my own use case recently than a question, it may help stir some ideas for others, so I figured I'd share.
I got the SMS notification last in 2025 that AT&T was discontinuing e-mail to SMS as other carriers have in order to combat spam which has become a big issue for them, I've gotten a few blasts of it myself but Google Messages filters pretty well... But that's a different discussion.
I have 4 BRX PLC's and 5 C-More HMI's that I utilize and I want to get remote notifications for critical tasks, and/or status tasks without cluttering up my email inbox, having to create a shared mailbox and make sure all applicable users have access to see alerts remotely, or (my systems run unattended probably 20% of the time). I was using email to SMS until that message came across so I had to start hunting for replacements.
In my stumbling around for solutions I remembered that Microsoft Teams (walkthrough here Send an email to a channel in Microsoft Teams - Microsoft Support), Slack (walkthrough here Send emails to Slack | Slack), and many other communication services have a "thread email" for their channels, or direct messages. We utilize O365 for interoffice communication so I setup our SMTP connector through that, but if you're already able to email out, then you just choose where to point it.
This method gave visibility to those who "need to know" and easy history to look back on for when/what happened and has been one of the more reliable things I've messed with (Yes, I am aware, a SCADA is the "right" way to do this... but we're not quite to that level of need yet). The notifications going to the PC, and to phones, and allowing for immediate internal communication to address issues has been awesome for our setup. Being able to also attach a screenshot to the post to allow everyone to be on the same page immediately has been an added bonus.
Hope this was helpful to someone or got some creative juices flowing!
