Cable conductor color standards

On a M12 5-pin cable what standard uses the color scheme:

1- Brown

2 - White

3 - Black

4 - Blue

5 - Gray

Need to make a cross reference between the above and DIN-47100 colors so I don't get a call every other day because the colors don't match. I can't seem to find the name of the standard though.

  • It would help if I paid attention to pin numbers on the diagram.

    1- Brown

    2 - White

    3 - Blue

    4 - Black

    5 - Gray

I'm calling it Euro-DC unless someone has a better answer.

I have always heard it was a European color code, however after looking at it just now the UK and EU color code is supposed to be brown for + and gray for - in a 2 wire ungrounded system:
Two Wire Ungrounded DC Supply

      • BROWN = +Ve (L+)
      • GRAY = -Ve (L-)
      • GREEN / YELLOW = Protective Earth “PE”.

      Two Wire Grounded DC Supply

      • BROWN = +Ve of a -Ve Grounded Circuit (L+)
      • BLUE = -Ve of a -Ve Grounded Circuit (M)
      • BLUE = +Ve of a +Ve Grounded Circuit (M)
      • GRAY = -Ve of a +Ve Grounded Circuit (L-)
      • GREEN / YELLOW = Protective Earth “PE”.
So still brown and gray in both types of systems for EU and UK.

The US standard is supposed to be red for + and black for -, which is really unfortunate given that red is also a "switched AC control wire" color.

The only true brown and blue for + and - DC systems I can see is the Israel color code.
