C-More Questions

A few More-C-More questions/comments/suggestions.

 

  • Why does Ctrl+A delete the tag name from a field in an object when selected? I make this mistake daily. Type out a tag, hit Ctrl+A instinctively to use elsewhere and it gets erased. Have to highlight it to copy it. Once again, C-More's obsession with mouse clicks shows through here.
  • Groups, can we edit the names of them?
    • Can group visibility be added in the future?
  • Advanced Options for objects. When deselected, tag values remain. My preference is that they end up cleared, but I could be alone on that. Numerous times I will copy an object (normally a shape with visibility) and decide I do not want the advanced options, uncheck that, only to end up with rogue tags now hidden as "in-use" behind deselected options.
  • Any progress on the Find-Replace we've been waiting for?
  • How about those trends?
  • Thanks for the tag based range limits! Are they coming to the EA9 as well or just CM5?

    I'll upvote a Find/Replace feature and vote to set the highest priority to that item.

      I'd also add that a find/replace feature that is unable to handle wildcards or partial replacements of tags, will be lackluster for many. Quite common to have an object that is all "Pump1" and need to replace everything in a copy to be "Pump2" whether someone uses structures "Pump1.PT.Scaled", or not "Pump1PTScaled" or possibly arrays "Pump(1).PT.Scaled", find/replace needs to allow replacement of just the piece of the tag that is desired. The clock tower folks did this one right with their Tag Substitution feature.

       

      I'll add that I am still more of an advocate of simply letting users export screens as text, XML, etc. to be able to manipulate as they see fit. Not only does this solve the find/replace issue (albeit with a few extra steps for the end-user and not as intuitive for newcomers), it also allows easier automation of other tasks related to HMI development.
