Question on wiring a Dold LG5924.48/61 Estop module

What do K3 and K4 represent on this diagram and how are they wired both in series with the estop and also on the load side in this example circuit? If i am trying to use the LG5924.48/62 to control higher current draws of an electric heater do I need to use a contactor that has multiple NC auxiliary contacts?

    The example diagram is if your application need two separate circuits/contactors. If your needs are just using one contactor, wire the coil as shown as K3 to terminal 14, and your N.C. of the contactor would wire in series from the ON pushbutton to Y2.

    K3 and K4 are auxiliary contacts on external safety contactors. k3 and K4 on the bottom end are the coils of these contactors. They are designed to prevent the safety relay from resetting in the event that one of the contactors gets stuck closed. The aux contacts are mechanically linked to their internal power contacts which would prevent them from closing in that event.

     

    I would research the difference between safety and regular contactors if you're not familiar. They are operationally similar but have differences. One of the main ones is that the aux contacts cannot be removed from the contactor like they can on a standard contactor.

     

    P.S. You only need one NC aux contact per contactor.

      So the LG5924.48 would need to be paired with something like this?

       

      I guess the idea is that by switching both legs of a circuit, the contacts will wear similarly but are unlikely to weld close on the same actuation so if/when one side welds, it locks up the system until its replaced?

        Not necessarily a need if your loads are 5-amps or less at the rated voltage; you can power your loads from 14, 24 and 34 when power is coming in from 13, 23 and 33.

         

        If your loads are greater than 5-amps, then a safety contactor will need to be used and the wiring example provided will maintain the safety rating of the Estop module.

        Unfortunately the load is 12A so I will need to use a contactor.

         

        This brings me back to my original question: If i am using the contactor i linked (Dold CWBS25-33-30C03, pictured below) how do I put K3 and K4 in in series with both the enable loop (Y1 to Y2) but also in series with the main contacts as shown in the sample wiring diagram (pictured further below)

    To make sure I understand how the system works, I made a test version on a 2x8 I had laying around. Here's what I put together, described in excruciating detail to make sure I'm not missing or mixed up about anything:

    • Mains power (0) enters the mains distribution block (1) then continues on to terminals 1L1 and 3L2 on the WEG contactor.
    • Tapped off the distribution block are two wires that go to the 24v power supply (3) which feeds the DC terminal blocks(4)
    • The path splits with the first +24V wire going to terminal 14 on the Dold relay (5). When the relay is energized, 24V should comes out terminal 14 on the relay (6) where it continues to terminal A1 on the contactor (7) powering the coil. The ground return from the contactor coil exits on terminal A2 (8) and returns to the 0V side of the DC terminal blocks (4)
    • The second +24V path leaves the DC terminal blocks and goes to one side of the normally closed STOP button (9) and exits on the other side (10). When the stop button is not actuated, +24V goes to terminal A1+ (11) on the relay energizing the coil and actuating the relay. The ground return from the relay coil exits terminal A2 (12) and returns to 0V side of the DC terminal blocks (4).
    • Separate from the 24V paths above, the enable signal leaves the safety relay at Y1 (13) before entering the normally open side of the START switch (14) and exits the other side at (15). When the switch is actuated, the enable signal travels to terminal 22NC on the contactor (16)
    • If all of the contactor contacts have opened correctly and are not welded, the enable signal passes on to terminal 21NC (17) and returns to the other side of the safety relay enable loop at Y2 (18)
    • When the contactor is actuated, mains power is passed through to contacts 2T1 and 4T2 (19) where it is able to passed on to whatever the above system is controlling (20)

     

    Is that correct?
