Barcode Scanner Connection / Wiring Conversion
Please see the attached documents. Is it possible to us a barcode scanner with a USB cable end, cut off the USB connector and connect the lines to a terminal block adapter for a DB9 plug the ends with a 6pin RJ12 connected to P3-SCM Comm card?
USB and RS232 are not the same. What model barcode scanner are you using? Some barcode scanners can do both depending on which cable you use.
EDIT
the cable you have Xed out is the one you need. notice on the top cable the data lines of the USB are going to barcode reader pin 2 and 3. on the RS232 cable Xed out the TX goes to pin 4 and the RX goes to pin 6
USB and RS232 use different voltage level and data signaling.
USB is a negotiated protocol between device and host.
Maybe you can find a USB<->RS232 adapter that will work.
Do you have a CMORE HMI attached? Maybe the scanner can plug into the USB port on the HMI. It would require selecting Style 2 on the text/numeric entry field, and the entry object would need FOCUS to accept the data from the barcode scanner.
